Germany at the center of the European energy transition.

According to WindEurope, almost one-third of the 6.8 GW of newly installed wind energy capacity in the first half of 2025 was accounted for by the German market. However, this rapid expansion also brings with it the challenge of using renewable energies efficiently.

Battery storage systems therefore form the backbone of a climate-neutral energy supply: they strengthen the stability and flexibility of the power grid and thus accelerate the integration of renewable energies.

In Germany, Return—formerly J&P Batterie Projekte—is a key driver of the expansion of energy storage systems. In close cooperation with property owners, municipalities, and grid operators, we identify and develop suitable locations for high-performance battery storage projects.

Developing locations for energy storage

Through intensive cooperation with landowners and municipalities, we implement storage projects that are sustainable in the long term.

Advantages for landowners:

  • Stable income – long-term, reliable lease payments as an additional source of income.
  • Minimal effort – we take care of maintenance and operation, so there is no additional work for you.
  • Low requirements – even unused or agriculturally less valuable land is suitable.
  • Increased value – the use of future technologies increases the attractiveness and value of your property.
  • Environmentally friendly – no pollutants, minimal intervention, the property remains largely unchanged.
  • Contribution to climate protection – battery storage promotes renewable energies and stabilizes the power grid.
  • Flexible use – at the end of the contract, the area is once again fully available to you.

Benefits for municipalities:

  • Greater energy independence – local storage solutions reduce dependence on external energy sources.
  • Contribution to the energy transition – storage projects position your community as a pioneer in sustainable energy.
  • Additional revenue – storage projects generate business tax revenue and strengthen municipal finances.
  • Strengthening the power supply – battery storage increases stability, reliability, and security of supply.

Specific storage projects in implementation

From site assessment and approval procedures to construction supervision and ongoing operation, Return supports the implementation of high-performance energy storage solutions.

One example is the planned large-scale storage facility in Rickenbach (Baden-Württemberg). With a capacity of over 300 MW, it is one of the largest plants in Germany. Commissioning is scheduled in around five years.

Another project is underway in Brietlingen in northern Germany. A contract for a 12 MW plant was recently signed here – an important step for regional grid stability.

Our strength lies in our local roots

An experienced team in Hamburg and Munich ensures that projects are implemented in a targeted manner thanks to short decision-making processes, technical expertise, and personal support.
