The energy transition isn’t held back by a lack of renewable power, but by a system not yet built to move it efficiently. Large-scale storage is essential and so is the ability to connect it to the grid quickly, safely and responsibly.
To support this, Return has entered into a framework agreement with Movares, a leading Dutch engineering and consultancy firm with deep expertise in grid infrastructure, permitting and stakeholder alignment.
The partnership focuses on accelerating the development of Return’s storage pipeline in the Netherlands, ensuring sites are engineered and permitted “first-time-right” and integrated into the energy system with precision and care.
“Movares brings the breadth of knowledge and respected standing needed to progress complex infrastructure projects,” said Paul Geluk at Return. “Their experience with grid operators and authorities, combined with Return’s system-first approach to storage, enables us to move faster while maintaining quality and responsibility.”
The collaboration is already active on route engineering and permitting for the Ursa and Mizar cable-connection facilities. Working in a portfolio approach, Movares will support Return to standardize processes, shorten development cycles and create scalable delivery models for future sites. First milestones are expected in early 2026.
For Movares, the partnership aligns with its mission to contribute to sustainable infrastructure and support meaningful energy innovation. For Return, it strengthens execution capacity as we expand a European network of storage sites designed to reduce congestion, unlock grid flexibility and make clean energy reliably available to homes, businesses and industry.
Step by step and connection by connection this partnership helps build the backbone of a cleaner, more resilient energy system.
